The Miami Marlins are hoping for a good season following a 2014 campaign, which saw them battle for the second NL wild card spot before a scary injury to star Giancarlo Stanton that ended the team's run, eventually finishing with a 77-85 record. In a report from Miami Herald, team owner Jeff Loria is going to make "sweeping changes" to the team's front office, scouting department, player development and all baseball operations.

Manager Dan Jennings has an uncertain future, with Miami Herald sources saying that he might go back to his general manager position or will be let go just like former manager Mike Redmond. Redmond was fired last May after a very disappointing 16-22 start to the season, as reported by ESPN.

Miami Herald also reports that there will be a big organization meeting involving all baseball personnel. The changes will either be people being reassigned or let go as not only the Marlins are struggling, but also all of its minor league affiliates. Only one of their prospect is listed in the Top 50 by Baseball America.

A report from Fish Stripes says that Jennings is a likely candidate for the Seattle Mariners' GM post. The Mariners recently fired GM Jack Zduriencik after a disappointing season that was expected of a postseason berth. Injuries have plagued Miami all season, but they boast some of the best young cores in baseball including Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Fernandez, Dee Gordon, Adeiny Hechavarria, Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich.

This is not the first time that the Marlins made an overhaul. Back in 2012, after moving to a new stadium that was built by the taxpayers' money and spending millions for players, Loria began a fire sale of the same players that he signed, as reported by ESPN.

They traded almost all their star players except Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton was signed by the Marlins in 2014 to the largest contract in the history of professional baseball, a 13-year $325 million contract, according to a report from SB Nation.

One possible candidate for the GM position for the Marlins if Jennings is let go as current assistant GM Michael Berger, as per Miami Herald. Berger took over the GM role when Jennings replaced Redmond and has worked with Loria when he owned the Montreal Expos.

The news outlet also said that The Marlins are currently fighting for the last place in the National League and avoiding 100 losses.
