Ukraine Protest Live Stream: At Least 100 Killed In Kiev, One Woman Tweeting Her Own Death [WATCH LIVE]
The fragile truce in the Ukraine has come to an end, and at least 100 people are confirmed dead in various riots and protests as Ukranian athletes withdraw from the Sochi Olympics in protest.
According to CNN, the Ukraine has become a center of violence as anti-government protesters take over the nation's capital. Some people, such as Olesya Zhukovskaya, have Tweeted that they are dying.
In addition to the 100 confirmed dead, Ukraine officials have confirmed that at least 500 have been injured less than one day after a "truce" had been called in a fighting match that shocked the world with nearly 30 dead just two days before. If independent sources confirm the casualties, it would make today the deadliest day in the Ukraine since the protests first began.
The crisis began as a result of Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych reneging on his agreement to sign a trade deal with the European Union, and instead turned to Russia to sign a trade deal, emphasizing the identity crisis in the Ukraine, who has a long-standing crisis between identifying with either the European Union or their neighbor to the East.
Furthermore, according to Yahoo!, there is a growing belief that the so-called "truce" that was called was a ruse for more violence to take place, because it has been confirmed that it was government soliders, and not the protestors, that were taking people's lives in a near-medieval fashion.
This also means that the President of the Ukraine's claims that he's containing the violence should be taken with a grain of salt. "All measures to stop bloodshed and confrontation are being taken. We must be guided only by the interests of the people, this is our only chance to save people's lives," he said, adding he would continue to fulfill his duties as long as he had the people's trust.
