Microsoft's gaming console efforts have been reinvigorated after the Xbox One showed it could topple the PlayStation 4 in sales last April 2015. Capitalizing on the matter, the Washington-based tech company plans to extend their lead even more with their upcoming exclusive gaming contents.

In a prior talk with Games Industry, Microsoft's corporate vice-president Kudo Tsunoda reiterated that the company is looking to take advantage of their achievement by developing unrivalled contents that only their console can provide.

He had on his mind Microsoft's imposing haul of exclusive games that Sony's slightly better graphics simply could not contend with. That being said, Microsoft is set to release seven new Xbox One-exclusive titles this fall, along with the complete list of backwards-compatible games.

Xbox's official website has the partial list of backwards-compatible games, which Xbox Preview members can test out. More titles will be added to the list which will culminate with the massive unveiling this November where a total of 100 titles will be made available for all Xbox One users. The current list of games include the following:

  • A Kingdom for Keflings
  • A World of Keflings
  • Alien Hominid HD

Just recently, another iconic Xbox 360 title has been added to the list of backwards-compatible games. Gamers can now relive 2009's first-person RPG smash hit "Borderlands."

Microsoft's gaming director Larry Hryb aka "Major Nelson" announced on his official blog site that "Borderlands" will be "joining the greatest games lineup in Xbox history." The sci-fi space western joins the lineup together with "Gears of War" and "Shadow Complex."

"If you own Borderlands, you'll be able to play it on your Xbox One and you can carry over your previously-saved files, game add-ons and achievements. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, bringing Borderlands to Xbox One Backward Compatibility lets you dive back into the loot-filled world of Pandora and pick up your adventure right where you left off on Xbox 360," Hryb explained.

Borderlands was dubbed "Game of the Year" by many independent gaming outlets in 2009. It has since spawned two equally successful sequels and three spin-off games. According to a prior report from IGN, "Borderlands 2" has sold over 12 million copies. This figure makes it 2K Games' highest-selling title.

A film adaptation courtesy of Lionsgate is also in development, Variety earlier wrote.
