'Real Housewives of New York' Cast Update: Bethenny Frankel in Talks to Return for Season 8
Bethenny Frankel is rumored to be in "final negotiations" to rejoin the cast of the "Real Housewives of New York" for its upcoming eighth season.
The New York Daily News reports fellow cast members LuAnn de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill are also now engaged in serious ongoing talks and are likely to return as well.
Word is the jury remains out on if series veterans Ramona Singer and Kristen Taekman will return and that producers have not yet offered either of them new contracts for next season. Reports were Taekman was in danger of being axed because producers thought she was "boring," but after it was recently revealed husband Josh had an account with married dating site Ashley Madison, she appears to be back in play.
"Kristen definitely isn't boring anymore," said a source. "She was perfect and pretty, and now she has problems like everyone else. That makes for good TV."
In addition, Dorinda Medley is also expected to be offered a new deal, while Heather Thomson definitely will not be returning.
"Heather says she quit, but it was a mutual decision after meeting with the network," said a source. "Kind of like a, 'Hey, I don't want to come back,' and 'we don't want you to come back' kind of thing. Heather didn't like the drama and said it was bad for business and her personal life in the end."
Recent rumors have also persisted that Frankel has been trying to recruit former "The View" talk show personality Jenny McCarthy to the cast.
"I like watching the drama," McCarthy recently expressed. "The problem is I'd have to go in with a choice, and that is to be the peaceful warrior or the sh*t starter. I don't know which one I'd enjoy doing. I don't want to ruin anybody's life, but a lot of those b*cthes need to be slapped in the face."
