Season 11 of "Bones" will kick off with an exciting start next month as "24" alum Kim Raver will help the team track down Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).

Earlier this year, new showrunner Michael Peterson revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Booth will be gone at the beginning of the new season due to a family-related issue.

"It's a very personal reason. It's a family reason. He gets involved in something that's very close to home and is probably the only thing that would pull him away from the tranquil life that he was leading up until that moment," said Peterson.

To help find Booth, the team will recruit a FBI special agent named Grace Miller, played by Raver. She will be featured in the first two episodes of the season, assisting in the investigation surrounding Booth's disappearance, reports TVLine.

The showrunner also stated that the investigation involving Raver will be a mix of "Bones" and "24."

"It's a true thriller -- somewhere between a traditional 'Bones' and an episode of '24,'" Peterson told TVLine. Peterson added that he "absolutely loved having" Raver on the show and that "we're finding ways to get her back."

TVLine also released a preview photo of Grace Miller in action, holding a gun with Agent Aubrey (John Boyd).

Last month, Boreanaz opened up about why Booth will be missing in action when the long-running comedy begins on Oct. 1. In a statement, the series star said he was forced to take time off from work due to a health scare, after suffering a bad reaction to an antibiotic, which forced the storyline to revolve around Booth's disappearance.

"Nothing matters to me more than 'Bones,' so I was thrilled when the producers came up with a way for me to take a few extra weeks to recover from a personal health issue without delaying production ... I'm happy to say that I'm now feeling great and will be back to work tomorrow, and that our 11th season premiere will broadcast on schedule -- with me in it," said Boreanaz, according to TVLine.

Season 11 of "Bones" will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
