iPhone 6 News and Updates: Will The Screen Really Be That Much Better?
With the new year comes a new iPhone and rumors have been fluttering around about what will be part of the new smartphone. With stiff competition from other phone makers, Apple has to catch up and woo customers back to the iPhone brand and may be able to fulfill many of their customers expectations with the new iPhone 6 as well as other new Apple products that will be coming out in the near future.
According to reports, the Apple may be revealing new features for its upcoming devices via its patents. While nothing is certain, Apple has some idea of what consumers expect from the new phone and has already revealed certain features that may draw customers in. One of these is a larger screen. iPhone screens have continued to grow with subsequent generations but the iPhone 6 will sport a 4.7-inch screen, facilitating costumer use. Apple has also received a patent for a curved touch screen.
Durability is something else customers have been wanting from Apple. Screens routinely crack and break when the phone is dropped. Rumors circulated that Apple would start using sapphire-based screens to improve sturdiness, however, now there are conflicting reports that screens may be made of Corning Gorilla Glass instead. Regardless of which one is chosen, the new phone will have a stronger screen.
There are other improvements on the screen area of the phone. Forbes reports that Apple has made overtures towards Nanosys, the producer of Quantum Dot technology. This improves the color schemes on screens and is already in used by the Kindle Fire HDX 7.
Aside from all the news surrounding the iPhone, which may include other improvements like facial recognition software, better cameras, and stronger casing, other devices are coming soon. The iWatch is expected to sell moderately well. According to analyst Katy Huberty interviewed by Forbes, the iWatch will be sold more as an accessory device, with an assumed average price of $299.
