PewDiePie Becomes First YouTuber to Surpass 10 Billion Views
YouTube sensation PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, has done something that nobody on Earth has done.
According to Gamespot, the popular channel became the first YouTube account to surpass 10 billion views. In a tweet, PewDiePie announced the news:
Today we made history! 10 billion views! THIS IS INSANE. Thank you all so much! Kisses pic.twitter.com/L3Td2HMX4N

PewDiePie created his channel in 2009 and has been a popular YouTube attraction ever since. At the end of 2012, he signed a deal with Maker Studios, a producer of online video content that is now owned by Disney.
When asked about his popularity, Kjellberg said he would prefer to have fewer subscribers. He explained, "I'm so central to YouTube now, and that puts me in the spotlight and raises a lot of questions like 'Why is he so big?' I'd much rather prefer to have something like 5 million subscribers."
He was also asked about how much money he makes producing videos, a topic that he normally avoids. According to Gamespot, he made $7.5 million through his videos last year. He stated, "Money is a topic that I purposefully tried to avoid for the five years I've been making videos. I just feel like it's not important to anyone. I just want to make entertaining videos."
He went on to say, "I understand that haters are going to hate, but I really think that money doesn't make you happy. I'm just as happy now as I was five years ago. I'm very happy that I don't have to worry about paying rent."
PewDiePie is known for his "Let's Play" videos, which have been viewed billions of times. He says he is still planning on making more videos for his viewers.
