'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' Spoilers, Release Date: 3 Reasons to Be Excited for Final Film
What is the most hotly anticipated movie of the fall season? For some it will be the new "Star Wars" movie. For others, another James Bond movie directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig is ample reason to celebrate. A Steven Spielberg movie will have others excited while the same could be said for a stable of other auteurs.
Yet one film that will have people excited will certainly be the finale of "The Hunger Games" saga. "Mockingjay Part 2" concludes the saga of Katniss Everdeen and concludes the war for Panem.
But why should you be excited for the new movie? Here are a few reasons why.
Real Stakes and Tension
Let's be honest. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" was a horrid film, devoting two hours to padding and building of a conflict that could have easily boiled over and exploded in that same time span. Lionsgate saw how the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" movies could split climactic episodes in two to reap more financial rewards and went with the same strategy, neutering the quality of its franchise which to that point had been at a pretty high standard.
This final section is the payoff that everyone has been waiting for this entire time. There are high stakes, tension, conflict and real challenges that Katniss has to overcome. That is more than the last film could claim.
War
The entire saga really builds up to the explosion of war and this is exactly what audiences will finally get in this third installment. That means horrific consequences for the heroes, including some traumatic deaths and trespasses. Speaking of which...
True Complexity
Without spoiling too much, the final section of the book reveals a lot of things about characters that few people were probably expecting. Moreover, the book does not leave the reader with a rosy happily ever after ending with some scars not fully healing by the end of the story.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" hits theaters on Nov. 20, 2015.
