Daniel Cormier won the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson last May 23 in UFC 187. He also said that he would be okay if Jon "Bones" Jones would not fight and try to win his belt back.

But at the UFC "Go Big" Press Conference, "DC" changed his tone about a possible rematch with Jones, who he failed to defeat last January in UFC 182. Cormier said that he needs Jones to cement his legacy as quoted by MMA Fighting, "Obviously, I need Jones. As I move forward, in this fight in October and I face Alexander Gustafsson, I need that guy. I need that guy to get back in here and fight me again."

"For my journey to be complete and for me to be complete as I finish this sport, I need him. And honestly, I wish him all the best so that he can actually get back and I can stop playing around with these guys and get back to business," Cormier added.

"Bones" is currently suspended by the UFC because of a hit-and-run charge following an incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The UFC announced that he was stripped off the title as he violated the Athlete Code of Conduct Policy.

Cormier is scheduled to defend his light heavyweight belt for the first time against Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 192 on Oct. 3 in Houston, Tex. The champ also has some words for his challenger and thinks that he's the better all-around fighter.

"I get my hand raised when I fight. I've lost once and every other time I've dominated the competition. That will not change on October 3. I think that Alexander Gustafsson is a good fighter, but there are levels to this fighting and I'm just a little bit better than he is," the 36-year-old champion said as quoted by Yahoo Sports.

"The Mauler" almost beat Jon Jones in UFC 165 last September 2013. He then defeated Jimi Manuwa in London before losing to Anthony Johnson last January in his hometown of Sweden. Cormier praised Gustaffson, but he knows he is going to win.

"Let's stop talking about the fight that he lost and talk about something that this guy has done positive. And when you look at it that way, you guys know exactly what's going to happen on October 3. He's going to lose to me. When you look at it objectively and not because he fought a guy closer than I fought him, you realize what's going to happen on October 3," Cormier said during the "Go Big" press conference as quoted by Yahoo Sports.
