iPhone 6S, iOS 9 & Apple TV: Specs & Updates at Apple Event 2015
Apple devotees can expect refined updates to the electronic giant's latest hardware as company executives unveil new products and updates at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California on Wednesday.
Let's explore the rumored updates, improvements and novel features of the iPhone, iOS 9 and Apple TV.
Apple iPhone6s
While the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are expected to have a similar appearance as their predecessors, they are rumored to be beefed up with a technologically advanced camera, faster A9 processor and Force Touch, the haptic feedback that's already incorporated into the Apple Watch and latest MacBook trackpads.
If the Force Touch technology is added to the iPhone, it will mean the 'S' iteration of the phone will be approximately 0.2mm wider than the original model, reports The Verge.
The iPhone camera megapixels have remained unchanged since the introduction of the iPhone 4S in 2011. There are rumors suggesting that Apple will announce a 12Mp camera with "DSLR-quality imagery" and a two-lens system capable of 3D images for the iPhone 6S, reports Macworld UK.
We may also see an improved Touch ID sensor as Apple Pay is becoming more popular worldwide.
Apple iOS 9 Specs
On Wednesday, we should learn more about the iOS 9 and its official release date. In the past, the release date typically falls about a week after the Apple event.
The most prominent addition in iOS 9 is Proactive, which learns user habits and suggests apps and actions based on these habits to make the iPhone experience more custom tailored, according to Macworld UK.
If you listen to music every morning during your work commute, the iOS 9 equipped iPhone will take note. When you plug your headphones in, the iPhone will offer you a lock screen shortcut to the Music app.
The iOS 9's performance and battery enhancement should give users a faster iPhone with longer battery life.
Apple TV Upgrade
Get ready for an improved Apple TV featuring a thinner chassis and new innards that include Apple's A8 chip and more on-board storage.
The Apple TV touchpad control is said to be "drastically improved" and features Force Touch and Touch ID. There is also audio support, which coincides with the rumor of an advanced operating system that includes support for a Siri integrated remote.
The most interesting addition is an App Store to the Apple TV. Imagine the number of apps that would make outstanding Apple TV apps.
The question remains whether or not the company will unveil the highly-anticipated and rumored Apple TV video game controller.
The retail price of the upgraded Apple TV is rumored to be between $149 and $199, a significant increase over the $69 current model, according to The Verge.
The Apple event start times on Wednesday are 10 a.m. pacific time and 1 p.m. eastern time.
Watch Apple's live stream through a channel on the Apple TV set-top box or by using the Safari browser on OS X 10.8.5 and above, or iOS devices with iOS 6 and above.
