Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman seemed to have found a winning formula with sci-fi flick "Edge of Tomorrow." Now, they're set to recreate the success with another film dubbed "Luna Park."

According to a report from Variety, the A-List actor is teaming up once again with Liman to develop this new sci-fi movie. "Luna Park" tells the story of a group of former space employees who steal equipment all over the world in order to go to the moon for a particular energy source.

The sources said that Cruise will likely star in the film as well.

The partnership comes after the two collaborated in "Edge of Tomorrow," a sci-fi movie that came out in 2014 and exceeded expectations with its success. The sleeper hit grossed over $350 million worldwide and earned widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

Cruise and Liman are also currently working on a film called "Mena" together, a Universal film that is set to hit theaters in January 2017.

It's a collaboration that has yielded much success, and the director was quick to praise the famous actor for his work ethic.

"It's Tom Cruise," Liman told Shortlist in an interview. "I never saw him complain, I never saw him get tired ever. He's literally tireless."

Cruise revealed how eager he was to work with his director again when he talked to MTV News during the premiere of the latest "Mission: Impossible" film.

"I pitched it to ['Rogue Nation' director and 'Edge of Tomorrow' screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and ['Edge of Tomorrow' director] Doug [Liman]," Cruise said. "We were there one night and I was like, I've got an idea for it. It could be so much fun."

While rumors for the sequel for "Edge of Tomorrow" continue to swirl, now the pair is jumping into a brand new project together. "Luna Park," which has been in Liman's hands for a while now, has been in the works for the past few years. In 2011, other Hollywood actors like Chris Evans and Andrew Garfield were reportedly attached to the film. However, production stalled when Skydance Pictures pulled out because of budget issues.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay of "Luna Park" has undergone several rounds of rewriting from scriptwriters including Mark Bowden ("Black Hawk Down"), Ken Nolan ("Black Hawk Down") and Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Sherlock Holmes").

It's unknown when production will begin for "Luna Park," since Cruise's timeline is packed with various commitments. The box-office king is set to star in the sixth installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, as well as "Jack Reacher 2," which is due to debut in theaters in October 2016, according to Cinema Blend.
