NFL Combine Results & Record 2014: How Did Players Perform?
A number of potential NFL stars took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine over the weekend.
Although the combine serves as a way for players to prove themselves and show the progress they've made since their college football days, some stars boosted the event up to a much more competitive -- even verbal -- level. Although the chirping and talk that went on might be somewhat unusual at the combine, general managers and members of the media alike were enjoying every last bit of the competition.
It started right out of the game when Auburn player Dee Ford took issue with all the hype surrounding Jadeveon Clowney.
"I'm better (than Clowney). Let's put it like this. People like to talk about size all the time. Size is pretty much overrated in my eyes," Ford said during an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio. "You can look at guys like Robert Mathis, Elvis Dumervil, Von Miller. These are 6-2 guys and under. People are just looking at the fact that he's a physical specimen. Honestly, if you watch the film, he plays like a blind dog in a meat market, basically."
Of course, stars such as Johnny Manziel and Clowney had to deal with the spotlight, and, in effect, additional pressure, and players such as Ford had seen enough.
But no matter how much Ford had seen, Manziel still came through with eye-popping results. The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback had the best 40-yard dash time -- 4.68 -- out of any of the other quarterbacks in his group.
There were a number of other stars who impressed in the combine over the weekend but we've yet to see it all. What do you think will happen in the next part of the event? Let us know in the comments section below.
