'Suicide Squad' Plot & Spoilers: New Theory Tags Enchantress as Main Villain, Not Joker [Rumor]
Less than a year from now, "Suicide Squad" hits the big screen.
While very little is known about the plot of the ensemble flick, a new rumor has come up that may have big implications.
According to a report from Heroic Hollywood, the main villain of the movie is not Joker as so many fans have assumed, but Enchantress.
The sorceress, the alter ego of human artist June Moone, is reportedly in the center of the action as she seeks to resurrect her fallen brother from the dead. Rumors say the Suicide Squad was assembled to stop the Enchantress from destroying the entire world.
It's an interesting concept, and certainly one that will throw off much of the audience, who expected Jared Leto's Joker to take the title as the main bad guy of the upcoming flick. The trailer featuring the squad did not show the Enchantress as part of the group, so it is possible the rumor has some merit.
Cara Delevingne will play the Enchantress in the "Suicide Squad" movie. The actress has spoken about her complicated character, caught between two personalities.
"I'm playing opposites," she shared during an interview in "Late Night with Seth Meyers". She continued, "A mousy kind of scientist and then a crazy, feral witch."
In another conversation with TIME, Delevingne expounded on her experience working as a comic book baddie. From the day of her "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" audition piece, the intensity of the role shone through.
"I was like, 'Honestly, if I go outside and punch people, you've got to come get me out of jail because I am so furious," she told TIME about the audition. "He [director David Ayer] sparked a f-cking fury in me."
But it's a part that the model-turned-actress enjoyed playing, she later added. Delevingne clarified, "[It] is going to be freakin' awesome. I kill people with my bare hands."
"Suicide Squad" is a story about the DC antihero team, the third film installment in the DC Extended Universe after "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman."
The film stars an incredible ensemble including Leto as the Joker, Delevingne as the Enchantress, Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Walker and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Also, part of the cast are Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
"Suicide Squad" is slated to be released in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
