'American Idol 13' Episode Recap & Judges: Jennifer Lopez Joins Cop Series 'Shades of Blue'
American Idol won't be the only series that you'll be seeing the beautiful Jennifer Lopez, she's just signed on with NBC to headline in the new cop series called "Shades of Blue."
TV drama will follow the story of Harlee McCord, a single mother and dirty cop recruited to work undercover for the FBI's anti-corruption task force. She becomes conflicted to expose corruption of her colleagues who have been helping raise her child. Production on the series will begin in 2015 and will not debut until the 2015-16 television season, says the Hollywood Reporter.
"Whether it's producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we're delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show," said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke in a statement. The network expressed its excitement to see J.Lo back to her acting roots and know that she will give depth to the complicated character of McCord.
The On the floor singer will also be the executive producer of the series and will work with Ryan Seacrest on the show that has been picked up by the network for 13 episodes. Producer Ryan Seacrest added: "The script is so powerful and ambitious; we can't wait to see Jennifer take on this remarkable role."
J.Lo has been appearing on American Idol as a judge and most recently made a guest appearance on TV's How I Met Your Mother while this will be Seacrest's first scripted drama series project, according to Rollingstone.
Latina notes that while Lopez is a judge on Fox's AI, Lopez hasn't had a recurring role on a television series since 1994 when she appeared on Second Chances.
Jennifer Lopez has started in multiple films including Parker (2013), What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012), The Backup Plan (2010), Monster-in-Law (2005), Maid in Manhattan (2002), The Wedding Planner (2001) and so much more.
