Kid Cudi surprised everyone by unexpectedly dropping his new album on Monday.

The new album obviously wasn't exactly as huge of a surprise release as Beyonce's new album was, but it was still big for the "Pursuit of Happiness" singer.

Cudi recently opened up about the details surrounding the new album and the storyline behind it.

"[Satellite Flight] starts where Indicud left off perfectly, and takes you right into MOTM III." Kid Cudi said to MTV earlier this year. "It's like a TV show that ends with that cliffhanger. The album ends that way, where you get that one song and before you know it, the song is over and the album is over, but there's a 'to be continued...' There's more to the story."

"I kinda went director on this project," he also said, "I had the idea for the first and second [Man on the Moon] albums, with the whole five acts split. Man on the Moon III will go back to that whole breakdown and this comes back to that tradition, with the acts and everything being seamlessly in order."

The star had previously announced that he would be coming out with a new album but also mentioned that it would likely be a surprise. That clearly was the case and now we can expect Kid Cudi fans to dive into the new album to see if it lives up to his previous releases.

The album also serves as a way to keep fans entertained until 2015 when Kid Cudi is slated to come out with the much-anticipated release of Man On The Moon III.
