Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez is confident that he will win against Brian Viloria. In fact, the reigning World Boxing Council flyweight champion predicted a knockout win in their upcoming showdown.

Gonzalez, whose title defense will be the main undercard for the upcoming showdown between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux, knows that Viloria will give him a tough night on Oct. 17 in New York.

Gonzalez also knows his opponent is aching to become a world champion again, which makes him believe that the Filipino boxer is working hard in training camp like him.

"I had already seen Viloria other times, but not close up like now," Gonzalez told World Boxing News. "He looks like a good person, but I know he himself will come in great shape to fight a big fight. I think we can make the best fight of the night."

Viloria, who holds a 36-4 record with 22 knockout wins, is a former light flyweight and flyweight world champion. The 34-year-old is coming off an eighth-round knockout win against Omar Soto in July. Last year, he also scored convincing victories against Juan Carlos Herrera, Jose Alfredo Zuniga and Armando Vazquez.

Earlier this month, Gonzalez's countryman and former boxing champion Rosendo Alvarez gave a piece of advice to the WBC champion. He said Gonzalez should have a perfect fight plan against a fighter like Viloria, who is capable of knocking out opponents with one solid punch.

"It would be better to fight him with intelligence and using his advantages in boxing as leverage," Alvarez said via BoxingScene. "Age affects the reflexes and speed, but not power. When I was a boxer, I had the opportunity to spar with Viloria in smaller weights and I had never felt a strong punch like his."

However, Gonzalez, who holds a perfect 43-0 record with 37 of his victories coming by knockout, believes he is the better fighter and the Nicaraguan champion predicted a knockout win against his challenger.

"I have a lot of confidence to win this fight by KO," Gonzalez said. "My preparation has been good and I have to keep doing the right things to do my best when the bell rings."

Gonzalez, who is also a former minimum weight and light flyweight world champion, has knocked out his last 10 opponents, including Valentin Leon in February and Edgar Sosa in May.
