NFL Draft No. 1 Pick: Will Texans Draft Clowney?
Jadeveon Clowney might be selected first overall in the NFL Draft, but what if he lands with a team he does not want to play for?
The highly touted prospect is one of the biggest names in the upcoming draft class and his exceptional talent has provided him some leverage regarding which team he ends up with -- or has it?
Clowney has expressed interest in a particular team but it is still unclear whether he has any real say in the matter.
"I wish [the Falcons] could trade up for me," Clowney said to ESPN.com. "I hope I don't fall to No. 6. I like Atlanta -- a lot. They're pretty good. They've got some guys from South Carolina on the team, also. And it's close to home."
As far as his chances at succeeding in the NFL, it depends on who you talk to. NFL Media Analyst Charley Casserly thinks he would be the safest option if a team is not exactly sold on top quarterbacks.
"If you're convinced Clowney is the best player in the draft and you're not convinced there is a quarterback you are dead-set on, then take Clowney," Casserly said, according to NFL.com. "At least you'll have a 10-year player. There will be another Andrew Luck in 30 years, maybe. So you say, is this guy RGIII? Are these quarterbacks Matt Ryan? That's probably a better discussion. Would you take Matt Ryan or Clowney?"
All in all, Clowney can at least expect to be drafted high and in the first round. It just depends on which team is the best fit for him and vice versa. What do you think? Do you see him getting selected first overall? What do you think about the rest of the draft class? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
