Xiaomi's Mi 4c smartphone was first tipped on the AnTuTu benchmark database and from the Chinese communications bureau TENAA last month.

The unreleased device even made an appearance on Geek Bench with the codename "Xiaomi Libra," Tech Gadgetsz earlier reported.

Since then, several details and leaks of the Mi 4c have surfaced; however, they were not accompanied by an official release date of the device.

The first rumor to mention at least the unveiling of the handset came a week ago when Giz China reported that Xiaomi will introduce the Mi 4c this coming Sept. 22.

Techies were struck with the unconfirmed report for days until Xiaomi confirmed the aforementioned press event.

According to Chinese tech site My Drivers via Fone Arena, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has recently announced that it will, in fact, stage an event on Sept. 22 for the Mi 4c. The smartphone is said to be Xiaomi's next mid-range flagship.

The Mi 4c is expected to have a five-inch 1080p touchscreen display, Qualcomm's hexa-core Snapdragon 808 on chip, a 3,120mAh battery and 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal memory or 3GB of RAM with 32 GB storage. There are also talks of a 64 GB variant, yet it's still uncertain how much RAM the bulkier model will have.

The Mi 4c is said to come with the same camera features fitted on the earlier released Mi 4i. The upcoming mid-range flagship will flaunt a 13-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front-facing shooter. It will reportedly have support for 3G, GPRS and LTE, and will apparently run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop underneath Xiaomi's own MIUI 7 OS.

Earlier specs sheet from TENNA, as relayed by NDTV Gadgets, indicated that the Mi 4c will have six color variants: white, black, red, green, yellow and orange.

Generic smartphone capabilities like FM radio, Bluetooth and infrared will also be among the Mi 4c's features. Furthermore, the mid-range handset's camera will be equipped with a 5x optical zoom and an accelerometer. Its CMOS camera detector can distinguish proximity and ambient light.

According to a Xiaomi informant on Weibo via Xiaomi Today, the price of the Mi 4c will start at CNY 1,499 (roughly $235 or €207), if current exchange rates stay the same.

The source stated that the revealed prices apply to both the 16 GB and the rumored 32 GB variant of the Mi 4C. It was not specified how much the 64 GB variant will cost.
