Los Angeles Lakers Byron Scott just acquired a California retreat home.

Scott, the 54-year-old NBA coach, buys a Hermosa Beach estate for nearly $1.8 million, Los Angeles Times reported. Real estate agents Chad Fahlbusch of NWRE Brokers handled the listing for the seller while Taria Lewis and Earl Williams of Tolbert & Associates served as Scott's representative.

The more than 3,300-square-foot residence has reportedly four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The relaxing home is strategically located just a few blocks away from the beach. However, the grounds can readily be a venue for small barbecue parties with friends as it has an outdoor grilling station. Dubbed as Villa Hermosa, the dwelling place boasts ocean views best seen from the outdoor patio of the two-story abode. A fountain and trellis accents beautify the house even more.

Indoors, guests will be greeted with a stylish entrance adorned with marble finishing. Other living spaces include a step-up living room as well as a modern kitchen equipped with an island and a fireplace. The Lakers coach will also like his master suite as it comes with great amenities like a spa-like shower and double vanities. The suite also looks classic, elegant and comfortable with its wood-lined floors.

Once a player, now a coach

Scott was a veteran professional basketball player before he decided to take his mentor role. The Utah-born retired athlete started with the Lakers in 1983 although he was picked by the San Diego Chargers in the 1st round, fourth over-all in the 1983 draft, per Basketball Reference. The Arizona State University alum played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 10 years since 1983 to 1993 and came back to play for his final year in the 1996-1997 season. In between, he played for the Indiana Pacers for two seasons and a season under the Vancouver Grizzlies, noted the site.

The former NBA guard had the most productive year in the 1987-1988 season, when he tallied an average of 21.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 0.3 blocks and 1.9 steals per game while playing 81 games for the Lakers, per ESPN stats.

Last year, he signed a four-year deal worth $17 million as a coach to the Lakers, ESPN reported.

"It feels fantastic. This is a dream come true. I always wanted to coach the Lakers, especially when I got to coaching. It's so unreal. I have to thank [general manager] Mitch [Kupchak], Jeanie and Jim Buss to give me this opportunity," Scott told KCBS-TV, as quoted by ESPN.
