‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Stick Returns, Jon Bernthal Teases Punisher Outfit
Matt Murdock's comeback as "Daredevil" is about to become even more intriguing. The Netflix series is still some time away, but the updates manage to keep the hype alive during the offseason.
According to an official report from Marvel, experienced thespian Scott Glenn will be returning for the upcoming season of the show to reprise his role as Murdock's blind mentor Stick.
The series last showed Murdock cutting ties with his former teacher, but it also left the doors wide open for the blind man's return. Stick was said to be involved with a guy named Stone, who is particularly interested in Murdock's progress.
The student-teacher reunion is set for the second season and "Daredevil" will be just as displeased with Stick's reappearance as he was the last time.
"The mysterious and sardonic character of Stick crashes into Daredevil's life right when he needs him the least!" the official release stated. "Responsible for training young Matt and then abandoning him, Stick returns with a new mission that Matt wants no part of."
Stick's role will be bigger in the wake of his return as actor Glenn is reportedly committed for three whole episodes next season.
Meanwhile, another familiar face from the hit television show is up for his series comeback in "Daredevil." "Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal embraced his new role as the Punisher by posting a number of photos related to his new character.
Bernthal's most recent shout-out on Twitter about his iconic character is a photo of himself in a Frank Castle jersey. He has also tweeted a photo of an extensive arsenal of weapons with the succinct caption "PUNISH." It's clear the actor is relishing in his new role as Marvel's tough Punisher.
While there have been no specific details on Castle's place in the Netflix series, there has been some speculation that he's set to be the "big bad" in the upcoming season, according to a source from the Nerdist.
The report revealed that recently appointed showrunner Marco Ramirez has a pretty big stage set up for Bernthal's character, even going so far as dubbing the new season as "Daredevil vs. The Punisher."
Over the past summer, another source from Latino Review reported that Jason Statham is also in talks to appear in "Daredevil" as a villain. Although Marvel hasn't confirmed the news, the action star is reportedly being courted to play Bullseye.
"Daredevil" season 2 will stream on Netflix in 2016.
