Former "24" alum Xander Berkeley has been cast in a role for the upcoming sixth season of "The Walking Dead."

TV Line reports that he has not been cast as Negan, or at least the comic book variation of the character. What is especially unique about the character role Berkeley will be playing, however, is that he has all the characteristics of the comic book version of Negan.

The comic book baddie is most well known for knocking off one of the show's most beloved main characters and seriously injuring another, but this article will not spoil that for you.

Berkeley's role in the series has been classified as "top secret" and not even his character name has been released as of yet. But one thing they did mention is that his character will not be appearing on the show until mid-season, so fans will have quite a long wait until they see what he brings to the table. But there is no doubt that he will be rising up in some way or another to be a nemesis to Rick Grimes and company.

What is known about his character based off his casting call is that he thrives under control and he has quite a narcissistic personality, one that is most befitting of used car salesmen.

"The Walking Dead" TV series has been known to veer away from the comic book source material, most notably with the character of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). Although it is too early to tell, there is a good chance that Berkeley's role on the series may be some variation of Negan, just not the character himself.

The show has also debuted a new trailer for the series on their Facebook page. It gives viewers a fresh perspective on what to expect from the gritty show that really thrives on its realism.
