Aaron Hernandez is alleged to have threatened the family of an associate, following the murder of former friend Odin Lloyd.

According to the Boston Globe, the former New England Patriots tight end allegedly warned Carlos Ortiz "I'll go to the people you love," after pumping the fatal bullets into Odin Lloyd in June of 2013. Ortiz later told investigators he took that to be a direct threat to the safety of his young son.

The new revelation came to light on Thursday in a ruling against 29-year-old Ortiz, who, along with Ernest Wallace, 43, still faces trial on first-degree murder charges in connection with Lloyd's killing.

Hernandez, 25, was convicted in April and is being held at the Souza Baranowski maximum security prison. Prosecutors allege the three men drove Lloyd to an industrial park near Hernandez's North Attleborough home and riddled his body with bullets.

During Thursday's proceedings, Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh denied Ortiz's request to suppress statements that he made to Connecticut investigators in the hours after Lloyd's body was discovered murder.

While Ortiz told investigators he did not witness Lloyd's killing, he added he overheard the shots and observed Hernandez "running with the large black gun."

Meanwhile, attorneys for Wallace have filed a motion to dismiss the case against their client, arguing that a grand jury lacked probable cause to indict him to begin with and that prosecutors compromised the integrity of the process.

Wallace's lawyers have also filed additional motions to suppress evidence seized by authorities from an apartment Hernandez rented in nearby Franklin. Garsh has yet to render a ruling on those motions.

Hernandez's troubles don't end there, as he also faces trial on double murder charges stemming from the 2012 drive-by slayings of Safiro Furado and Daniel de Abreu in downtown Boston. He has pleaded not guilty in that case and attorneys for him in the Lloyd case have filed legal documents aimed at overthrowing his conviction.
