La Liga Week 4 Standings & Table: Barcelona, Real Madrid Remain Undefeated

We're four weeks into the 2015-16 La Liga season, and "surprise" isn't the word to define this year so far. Barcelona and Real Madrid are by far the two best squads in the Spanish Premier League, and they are once again fighting for the top spot.

Barcelona defeated Levante 4-1 to improve to 4-0 on the season, Barcelona is the only 4-0 team in the league, and they are the favorites to repeat as champions once again. Superstar forward Lionel Messi stole the show in week 4 scoring two goals in the lopsided win. Messi now has three goals on the year and one assist. Brazilian favorite Neymar also scored in that game, and he now has two goals this season.

Luis Enrique's team hasn't looked like an offensive juggernaut so far, as they have scored just eight goals in their four games. However, as usual, Barcelona has an outstanding defense. Barcelona has allowed just two goals in four games of play, and they are also competing for a second consecutive Champions League title. Barcelona has arguably the most impressive win this year, a Week 3 win against Atletico Madrid on the road.

Barcelona will face Celta Vigo in Week 5

Speaking of defense and not conceding goals, Real Madrid has been perfect in that department. Real Madrid has not allowed a single goal through four games of play this La Liga season. It looked like Granada was going to take a stunning 1-0 lead on Saturday, but the goal was disallowed because of a controversial offside penalty.

Karim Benzema scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Granada. Real Madrid's offense has been very inconsistent in Rafael Benítez's first stint. In Real Madrid's first four games they have scored zero, one, five and six goals. There's no telling exactly how many goals Real Madrid will score in their next contest. Colombian middle fielder James Rodriguez is still out with a leg injury, and Gareth Bale is out two to three weeks with a calf injury.

Real Madrid will take on Athletic Bilbao in their next game on Wednesday.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are getting most of the attention, as they should, but Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Celta Vigo are very much in the mix. Barcelona's next game is against Celta Vigo, which should be the game of the week.
