According to Deadline, the film will pick up where the last instalment "Resident Evil: Retribution" left off. It will follow the cast as they help Alice (Milla Jovovich) fight the Red Queen and work on taking down the evil Umbrella Corporation.

The action film, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, also stars Larter as Claire Redfield and Iain Glen as Dr. Isaacs, and Shawn Roberts will be returning as Albert Wesker. Also recently added to the cast were model and "Orange Is the New Black" star Ruby Rose, Japanese model Rola, Fraser James and Eoin Macken.

The film began shooting recently in South Africa and, according to Cinemablend, is set to be released in theaters January 2017.
