Activision is known for their massive supply of gaming toys to its consumers, but recently, they have ventured on a different gaming material in the form of collectible card games.

According to Yahoo Tech, Activision has created collectible card games for "Skylanders Battlecast" exclusively for iOS and Android users. The concept of the new venture is to allow gamers to take advantage of the free-to-play game cards that are significantly designed to be scanned and played on mobile phones.

The "Skylanders Battlecast" collectible game cards offer different characters and can be played in the mobile app wherein a player will try to fight and defeat Kaos and his Minions.

Players have two options: they can purchase the real collectible cards, scan them and turn them into playable characters on their mobile phones or purchase the digital card packs wherein they can download the characters and start playing in the Skylands.

The game comes in a single player campaign and an online multiplayer. Activision has an ongoing mobile app, "Skylanders," for iOS and Android.

According to Forbes, players can start building a team that consists of three "Skylanders" characters, choosing the best ones to represent the deck on which the player will use for the battle.

To feed your imagination on how the scanned cards will look like, Activision has included some "Battlecast" characters whose function will reflect that of Nintendo's 3DS's AR cards.

The collectible card games for "Skylanders Battlecast" by Activision is said to have taken its inspiration from "Magic the Gathering" and "Hearthstone" wherein both have ventured on the same collectible cards.

Just recently, the card games have been launched on the app stores. While it is primarily launched as a trial for the newly developed game, the possibility of eventually unlocking new characters on specific time schedule is also featured on the app.

In the official Skylanders website, an offer of printable first two cards is on display as well as some information on how to unlock new characters in preparation for the battle. Completing the quests prepared on the game will enable a player to unlock the characters.

Featured on the website are the collectible game cards of Spitfire and Stealth Elf. Other characters on "Skylanders" include Spyro the Dragon, Core Skylanders, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Masters, Super Chargers, Sidekicks and Minis.

The Antagonists on the video game include villains that can be captured. Players are bound to create the best deck that will surge the force of the enemies.
