iPhone 6s News and Review: Apple Gives Smartphone Better Camera, New 3D Touch, Low Battery Life
The iPhone 6s will be available this Friday, and while it does not look any different than the iPhone 6, it has received multiple internal upgrades.
Apple is using the tagline, "The only thing that's changed is everything," to promote the iPhone 6s, Tech Radar reports. Since it looks exactly the same as the iPhone 6, it is important that Apple highlights the new features added to the new model.
When Apple releases an "s" model of the iPhone, the phone's external remains the same, but the internal features of the phone are upgraded. With the iPhone 6s, several internal features improved, creating a very exciting phone.
The iPhone 6s will be upgraded to the 7000 series aluminum, making it the strongest material ever used for an iPhone. The glass on the display is much stronger too, making it less prone to cracking when dropped. Even with these changes, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 will still look identical and all of the buttons remain in their same spots.
The screen on the iPhone 6s is still not 1080p. Samsung and Sony have managed to build cheaper 1080p devices with cheaper price tags, but that doesn't mean the iPhone 6s has a poor display. The sharp and colorful display is still impressive. With the addition of 3D Touch, interacting with the screen will be even more satisfying.
3D Touch allows quick taps for previews of pictures and messages or longer taps for fully displaying pictures and messages. It will be a whole new way of interacting with the items on the iPhone.
The camera on the iPhone 6s is the best ever offered in an iPhone. When photos are shot, the camera will automatically take 1.5 seconds of video before and after the picture to make it look like the photo is moving. This feature is called Live Photos. The brand new 12 megapixel (MP) camera has the ability to take near DSLR-quality photos.
The new A9 chip was supposed to create longer battery life by making the iPhone 6s more efficient. Unfortunately, it looks like Apple used the extra power of the A9 for the 3D Touch and better camera instead of making the phone last longer.
With the exciting 3D Touch and the brand new camera, the iPhone 6s could be the smartphone of the year.
