The Emmy-winning series "How to Get Away with Murder" made headlines for more than just Viola Davis this weekend, scoring an exclusive home for streaming on Netflix.

The streaming buffet platform announced the news last Friday via Twitter, and the post has already received a lot of feedback.

As if that was not enough for fans of the award-winning series, Netflix took it one step further and made sure that subscribers had immediate access to the show with no waiting period. It was as if the company just knew that Viola Davis was going to walk away with the historic Emmy that weekend, according to Deadline.

This is not just any territorial agreement for the streaming platform, but rather a worldwide exclusive. The streaming buffet made the series available on their platform right away for their customers in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Other territories will also be quick to follow, with the show coming soon in those regions.

The freshman series has been a hit with fans on ABC and earned lead actress Davis her Emmy, which is the first for a woman of color in the category, breaking down racial barriers on the coveted award.

According to Variety, Davis' acceptance speech for her award brought awareness to the lack of opportunities for women of color in Hollywood.

The speech also prompted some controversy, when "General Hospital" actress Nancy Lee Grahn took to Twitter to criticize Davis' speech.

"I wish I loved ‪#ViolaDavis Speech, but I thought she should have let ‪@shondarhimes write it," Grahn wrote on her post.

Of course, Grahn has since taken to her Twitter page in order to retract her previous tweet, with various posts apologizing for her original statement.

Nevertheless, Netflix subscribers can treat themselves to a binge of Davis' Emmy-winning talents on the streaming platform now.
