‘Limitless’ Plot & Spoilers: Producer Alex Kurtzman Gives Cast & Story Teasers
"Limitless" just premiered on television, one of the most intriguing shows right now due to the series acting essentially as a sequel to the hit big-screen film.
The show follows the story of Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), a struggling musician who realizes the powers of the NZT pill in hopes of finding a cure for his ailing father. According to the show's official website, NZT is "a little-known drug that allows the user to access 100 percent of their brain capacity." His discovery put him squarely in the path of the FBI and Senator Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper), changing his life and setting in motion events that continue to test him with NZT.
It's a compelling storyline that has the potential to branch out in many different ways. In an interview with Slash Film, producer Alex Kurtzman revealed that the pilot only showed a glimpse of the strength of NZT.
"Yeah, I think that was one of the challenges of the show, was: How do we take what they did so well in the movie and figure out a way to expand the world?" he responded when asked about new uses for the drug in the show. "So you'll see that we pick up a lot of threads that are set up in the movie that are then opened up in the show."
Kurtzman also revealed the morality issues that come with the "limitless" power in Finch's hands with NZT, saying an important part of his journey is finding his identity outside his use of the pill. Although the producer called the show protagonist a "good guy," the story will sometimes involve him in situations where he'll have to make tough calls.
One of the things that make the show special is the participation of film star Bradley Cooper, who reprises his role as Senator Eddie Morra in the television show as well as standing as the executive producer of "Limitless."
Although many might assume his participation is limited to the pilot episode, Kurtzman promised that the Hollywood A-Lister won't be leaving the show behind.
"Bradley I think would love to come back as much as he can given his insane schedule, which of course we will do everything to accommodate," he revealed. "He was very, very involved in the pilot. He's been very continually involved, even from London, in the development of the stories. So he loves the show."
He added, "I believe the movie was the first movie that he produced, so I think he's really invested and wants to stay in it. Whenever we can have him back, we'll have him back."
