After a two-year-long break, Sherlock is finally coming back with its fourth season.

Sherlock is a modern take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective stories featuring Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. The BBC released the trailer a month ago, along with an interview with the show's creators, heightening the anticipation of avid fans of the show.

According to Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, season 3 is about Sherlock's return to London after deciding to move on with a normal life. The modern version of Sherlock is a lot better since there is less time travel being done, and it is more about how Sherlock deals with the modern world. This season is essentially Sherlock Holmes versus real life.

Season 3 of the show featured a 90-minute premiere while the series is divided into three episodes. Episode 1 is called "The Empty Hearse," Episode 2 is "The Sign of Three," and Episode 3 is "His Last Vow."

The BBC already released the synopsis of the new episodes last month, but they still left a lot of questions unanswered. One question major question was last season's cliffhanger: Did Sherlock survive the devastating fall? How is he going to convince John to give him his full trust again?

Last year, there was a special preview screening for a select group of people for the first episode "The Empty Hearse." However, no online spoilers were posted. In fact, Gatiss made a funny comment that if anyone posted the spoiler online they would receive a trip to his "strangely luxurious and well-equipped torture chamber."

A lot of new faces will be introduced in the new season. Some familiar faces will also make a comeback. Among these characters are Una Stubbs as Mrs. Hudson, Rupert Graves as D.I. Greg Lestrade, and Louis Brealey as Molly Hooper. Aside from more thrill and adventure, this season is also said to be the funniest season to date.

Sherlock Season 4 is expected to air in January 2014, but no premiere date has been announced so far.
