A previous Latin Post article reported that the HTC One A9 and Butterfly 3 were the prime candidates rumored to be shown off at HTC's press event later this month. Anticipation was and still is focused on the One A9 rather than on the Butterfly 3.

Fans have been clamoring for the rumored next-generation HTC flagship ever since the Taiwan-based mobile manufacturer teased for months of its supposed unveiling two weeks ago. What HTC announced instead was the budget mid-ranger Desire 728.

Now, a new report has suggested that fans of the ever elusive One A9 will just have to wait for a little longer.

According to a recent Twitter post from ROM Developer and reliable tech tipster LlabTooFer, the Butterfly 3 will be accompanied by a different partner on HTC's Sept. 29 event.

Strangely enough, LlabTooFer stated that the Butterfly 3 will only be launched in China. As for the updated HTC One M9+, it wasn't specified if it will share the same fate.

If that's the case, then HTC's upcoming announcement won't carry much weight for HTC fans outside of China. However, Phone Arena noted that the Butterfly 3 had already been released in Japan in May 2015 as an "exclusive" product for KDDI, a Japanese mobile carrier.

Furthermore, the One M9+ is currently in the market in some parts of Asia and Europe. It stands to reason that an updated version of the device will make its way to the global market eventually.

As for the specs of both devices, a prior benchmark listing has already leaked the Butterfly 3's specs. Meanwhile, no further information have been tipped regarding the updated HTC One M9+, although it's likely that it will be powered by a MediaTek processor similar to its predecessors.

Going back to the Butterfly 3, the Compu Bench database shows the device having a 5.1-inch QHD display, 3GB of RAM and 23GB of built-in storage. It's powered by Qualcomm's 1.9 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, which contains four Cortex-A57 high-performance cores and four Cortex-A53 power-saving cores.

Furthermore, the Butterfly 3 is fitted with a 20-megapixel rear camera with support for autofocus and LED flash. It also has a 13-megapixel front-facing unit. Lastly, the Butterfly 3 runs on the Android 5.0.2 straight out the box.

According to GSM Arena, the latest generations HTC Butterfly is said to retail for 20,900 TWD, which is ¥4,062 in China, €570 in Europe and $637 in the U.S.
