Seattle Seahawks Roster: Will Jimmy Graham Bring Locker Room Tension Soon?
The Seattle Seahawks are 0-2 to start the 2015-2016 season, losing 34-31 to the St. Louis Rams in the opener and 27-17 against the Green Bay Packers last week, as per separate reports from ESPN. According to USA Today, since 2009, 43 out of 45 teams who open the season at 0-2 have had tough times making it to the postseason.
Losing can make a team crumble, but the Seahawks are tough, talented and can turn things around, one game at a time. One Seahawk player is already frustrated according to coach Pete Carroll.
According to Carroll, he thinks that tight end Jimmy Graham is already frustrated of not getting more touches. "I think he is. I think he's a competitor, he wants the ball, he wants to help us win. I don't think there's any question about it. I would feel that, too. He's worked hard, he's great about it, he wants to do everything he can to help us. I don't have any doubt about that," the Super Bowl-winning coach said, as quoted by NFL.com.
Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman confirmed that Graham is indeed frustrated, adding that he does not like his role in Seattle. As quoted by Seattle PI Freeman said, "Jimmy Graham is pissed. Pissed off. Make no mistake about it. He hates what's happening in Seattle, where he's being barely looked at, barely a part of the offense. I've had several Seattle players tell me this. It's a fact. He is pissed off. I can't blame him."
In defense of Graham, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell told Seattle Times that the 28-year-old is frustrated about Seattle's 0-2 start and not his role and his touches. "I think Jimmy's frustrated. I think he's frustrated that we're 0-2, not frustrated that he's not getting the ball," Bevell said.
"I have a great relationship with him. We talked about it today. He just wants to win. He's an ultimate competitor. If you say frustrated, he's frustrated we're 0-2, not that he only had one catch," he added.
In his first two games, Graham only has seven catches for 62 yards and one touchdown. According to another NFL.com article, the New Orleans Saints traded Graham to the Seahawks for center Max Unger.
The Seahawks will face the Chicago Bears in week three in their home opener for the season, wherein quarterback Russell Wilson only has two losses. Also, Kam Chancellor is back after a few months of holdout, as reported by ESPN. He will play for the rest of the season and will hold contract talks after it.
