LG G5 Release Date, News, Rumors: New Processor, Better Than LG G4
The LG G5 is the next flagship smartphone coming from LG. It will make improvements to the already powerful LG G4 and will likely come with the latest processor available from Qualcomm.
The LG G4 is only five months old, but rumors are already surfacing about the LG G5, Phone Arena reports.
A couple months ago, rumors revealed that LG could skip the fingerprint sensor and use an iris scanner instead. The LG G4 did not have a fingerprint sensor and that was one feature that has been common in most smartphones released in the past year or so.
The LG G5 is expected to use the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which will be the latest and greatest processor from Qualcomm available when the LG G5 is released. Instead of using the Snapdragon 810, which had some overheating issues, the LG G4 used the Snapdragon 808 processor.
The LG G4 already had a great camera and it looks like it will get even better for the LG G5. The LG G4 used a 16 megapixel (MP) camera and the LG G5 will upgrade to a 20 MP sensor that will be custom-built by Sony. Hopefully with the increase of megapixels, LG will not sacrifice its excellent low-light picture quality and vibrant colors. The LG G4 had widest aperture camera at f/1.8. Could the LG G5 have an even wider aperture camera?
A 5.5-inch screen is probable for the LG G5, but the material on the body of the handset is still in question. Unlike Apple and Samsung which use glass and metal, LG has used a lot of plastic for its devices. The LG G4 had a plastic body and it was surrounded by the unique leather backing. It will be interesting to see if LG switches over to a metal body.
A brand new charging technology is coming from Qualcomm called Quick Charge 3.0. Qualcomm promises that this technology will charge smartphones up to 85 percent in just 30 minutes. If the LG G5 has this feature, it would be a great selling point for it, Gotta Be Mobile reports.
The new LG G5 will debut sometime in the middle of 2016.
