TV host and actor Jimmy Fallon stayed true to his word with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on taking the Polar Plunge on Sunday.

It was one quick yet terribly freezing dip right in Lake Michigan as the comedian was dressed in formal suit and tie. Fallon plunged and screamed as he went out fast of the chilly water with the extremely shocked expression on his face, states NYDailyNews.

The Polar Plunge challenge started with a series of tweet exchanges between "The Tonight Show" host and Mayor Emanuel. The deal between the two involved the comedian/host to do the icy challenge before he can finally have the mayor as guest in his funny talk show.

Mayor Emanuel came into the water first followed by Fallon who were both soaked from head to toe, WashingtonPost reported. They were welcomes by a group of bagpipers which rendered the scoring for the exciting cold dash as everyone else of the participants gave their best to dip on the 32-degree lake.

The event is done yearly that draws the attention of thousands of participants with one goal: to raise funds for the Special Olympics Chicago.

Numerous participants were dressed funny in polar bear costumes while some carried signs and simply gathered around the lakefront, early enough to catch the popular host. Chicago firefighters were also there to help out in clearing the area from chunks of ice.

According to Jen Kramer, the Special Olympics Chicago President, Mayor Emanuel and Fallon did a big help by having attracted way more than 3,000 individuals to do the run into the freezing lake since last year, there was only a total of 2,300.

Since the time that the mayor challenged Fallon in February, many of the comedian's fans even set up their own Twitter campaign with the hashtag #JimmyPlungeWithUS to encourage their favorite celebrity all the more, WeirtonDailyTimes wrote.
