New Matrix Trilogy Movie on the Way? Release Date & Plot to be Revealed
Matrix fans may be rejoicing soon as the Latino Review reports that, "the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio."
Rumblings have been heard and quickly extinguished as to a matrix continuation but it seems the Wachowskis are working on a new matrix trilogy with could be in the works very soon. While there is no final word on whether Warner Bros. will pick up the pitch, the climate couldn't be riper with the influx of franchise mines for Spiderman and Terminator, re-visiting a successful series wouldn't be a bad way to go.
No final details have been provided on the plot, angle or the scope of the new movie, there are a number of ways it could go. The new take could be by way of a prequel covering an earlier matrix.
Given that the original trilogy had the Architect suggest that Neo wasn't the first "One," it opens the new series to anchor it's plot pre-dating Neo. The report of the Review reveals that one of the early outlines centered on the birth of the matrix but it's still early with the story still being "very fluid."
In addition, related animated Matrix films will allegedly not have any bearing on the live action movies.
According to the report, the film could be hitting theaters by 2017 as Warner Bros. is looking for a strong franchise to pit against any new Star Wars and Avatar films.
The sci-fi movie series The Matrix was created by Andy and Larry Wachowski and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The first film The Matrix was released in 1999, and followed by another two sequels, namely, The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions also in 2003.
Following the popularity of the franchise, additional media that circles on the story of the Matrix include the anime The Animatrix, video games as well as a comic series.
