'Gotham' News: Raul Castillo Confirmed To Portray Eduardo Flamingo Villain
Fox's "Gotham" series has finally kicked off their second season this past week and have promised the introduction of many new characters.
Following an interview with star Ben McKenzie on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Variety has just confirmed that actor Raul Castillo will be portraying the role of Eduardo Flamingo, a lesser known villain within the DC Universe.
It's been reported that Castillo will make his debut as the character in the ninth episode of the sophomore season, which is likely to air near the end of 2015. It hasn't yet been confirmed if Castillo is slated to reappear in later episodes.
Eduardo Flamingo has commonly been portrayed as one of Gotham's most lethal assassins who derives pure pleasure from his most gruesome kills. Here's Warner Bros. TV's description of the character:
"Eduardo Flamingo is one of Gotham's most dangerous hitmen. Killing for him isn't just a job, it's an art form. Armed with a spiked chain and an appetite for flesh, this rock-a-billy assassin will prove to be one of Detective Jim Gordon's trickiest foes."
This villain just adds to the many Fox plans on bringing onto this season, as it has previously been announced that fans will get to see Tigress, Firefly, Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, Clayface, and more.
It will also capitalize on where the last season left off with Edward Nygma's evolution into The Riddler, and Jerome's transformation into the Joker. The showrunner's have a special interpretation of the iconic villain that they're confident fans will enjoy.
"[The Joker is] an ideology, he's not just a single villain," executive producer Danny Cannon told Zap2it. "We're doing the origins of an ideology. He's locked up in Arkham right now. We get to meet him again and see what he's blossomed into. Over the first episodes, we'll see how his ideology spreads."
"Gotham" airs Mondays on Fox 8/7c.
