The Season 2 synopsis of "Jane the Virgin" reveals that Jane Villanueva will face more family drama when the comedy series returns next month.

In the new season, fans can expect to see Jane evolve as a newfound motherhood while also coping with the tragic abduction of her child. According to CarterMatt, the synopsis reads as follows:

"After Jane (Gina Rodriguez) discovers Mateo's abduction, chaos ensues, especially when they all learn Sin Rostro is involved and demanding a ransom. Trying to help, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) tweets about Mateo's kidnapping making the Villanueva family targets of the paparazzi. Despite everything that has happened, Jane must also focus on motherhood and turns to Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Alba (Ivonne Coll) for help, leaving Rafael (Justin Baldoni) feeling left out. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) is conflicted with what to do with Rafael's remaining sperm sample."

Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman also dropped spoilers about the upcoming season, confirming that Jane will tie the knot. However, she didn't reveal whether the new mother will marry the father of her child or her long term boyfriend. In fact, Urman hinted that there is even a chance that Jane might fall for another guy.

"There's a big development," she told Entertainment Weekly.

Season 1 ended with a bang, as Jane gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Mateo, who was then kidnapped by Sin Rostro. Meanwhile, Petra took Rafael's swimmers home from the fertility clinic. Plus, Jane's parents, Xiomara and Rogelio, admitted that they got drunk and eloped in Last Vegas.

Despite her messy love life and new baby, the sassy Latina will try to remain true to herself in the second season and focused on her career, Urman teased.

"Jane's big emotional story will be how does one become a mother and still retain one's sense of self and accomplish all the things she wanted to, especially as a young woman who hadn't planned to have a child so quickly," Urman explained.

Season 2 of "Jane the Virgin" will premiere on Monday, Oct. 12 EDT on The CW.
