BuzzFeed reports Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan, also stunned spectators while attending the state diner. Liyuan donned a long-sleeved blue gown while Xi wore an all black suit with a blue pocket square to match his wife.
According to Huffington Post, former Labor secretary Elaine Chao also attended but was unable to name the designer of the dress she was wearing. However, Chao did manage to reveal that the garment was "something very inexpensive."
The state dinner was a star-studded event that included a large number of A-list celebrities and public figures including "Empire" creator Lee Daniels, Disney CEO Bob Iger, Henry Kissinger, uber-philanthropist David Rubenstein, ballet dancer Misty Copeland, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.
Guests of the night ate their dinner and mingled at the White House's East Room. R&B singer Ne-Yo provided the entertainment for the night as guests feasted on Colorado lamb and Maine lobster, the Huffington Post reports.
In addition to the lamb and lobster, the meals also included an Asian flare which was made possible by "Top Chef's" Anita Lo.
A representative from the White House told the Huffington Post that the food was "American cuisine with nuances of Chinese flavor."
