Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Thinks Lady Gaga Is ‘Way Better’ Than Madonna
Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has given his vote to Lady Gaga when it comes between the "Edge of Glory" singer and Madonna.
The Mother Monster, in a recent interview with Corus Radio, shared some kind words about what she thinks of the metal band, saying they're "one of the greatest rock bands in history." She also said even though she's constantly compared to Madonna, she feels she identifies more with Iron Maiden, reports Ultimate Classic Rock.
"Some people really don't know the importance of metal and the scope of it," Gaga said. "Those guys were filling stadiums, and they still are. And it's because of the culture of the music, the poetry that's so powerful, that whenever the fans come together, they unite in the essence of what Iron Maiden is all about."
Gaga also brought up how she'd like to be the "next Iron Maiden."
"I wished I'd said that," Dickinson said.
"I actually think she's great, and I agree with her: She's not the next Madonna. She's way better than that, 'cause first of all, she can sing; she's got a belter of a voice. She's a real good instrumentalist. She's got a great sense of drama -- anyone who can show up to an awards show dressed as a bacon sandwich has got my vote. She's great."
Earlier this month Gaga posted on Twitter that she awakened at 5 a.m. to make sure she didn't forget to download Iron Maiden's new album "The Book of Souls."
In addition to Bruce Dickinson's praise of Gaga, other metal heads have expressed their love for the Mother Monster. Exodus and Slayer guitarist Gary Holt called Gaga "rad" in Loudwire's recent "To Exodus or Not to Exodus?" segment. Judas Priest's Rob Halford also mentioned he'd like to eventually collaborate with the singer.
