'Real Housewives of New Jersey,' Teresa Giudice News Update: Reality Star Signs Six-Figure Interview Deal
Teresa Giudice has signed a six-figure deal with Bravo, granting the network the rights to her first, post-prison interview.
According to Radar Online, the 43-year-old "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star is set to bank $200,000 for the sit-down, which will take place sometime after she has been released around Christmas time, after serving her 15-month sentence at the Danbury Correctional facility on bank fraud-related charges.
"Bravo is giving Teresa the huge paycheck because her contract to film 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' didn't include the post prison interview," a source said. "Teresa's attorney brokered the deal and was able to get $200,000 because there was bidding with several entertainment news programs."
Word is Guidice tried to finagle an advance on the money from network officials so her family would be able to pay off some outstanding bills, but the request was not honored because it's not known for certain when she might be able to actually grant the interview.
Upon her release, reports are there is a minimal chance that Guidice might be required to go to a halfway house before returning home, as she transitions back to civilian life.
Meanwhile, fans will be able to see and hear Giudice as early as next month, when she's slated to take part in the family's new "The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In" spin-off show.
The premise of the spin off centers on husband Joe trying to manage their family of four daughters while his wife is away. It will feature "daily 'check in' calls" from Giudice and "family prison visits."
Reportedly, Giudice still owes some $214,588 to the government in restitution stemming from her fraud case, and authorities are slated to garnish up to 25 percent of her Bravo salary until the debt is completely paid off.
