The legendary Celia Cruz will be honored at the first-ever Latin American Music Awards in October with a tribute performance by several of today's biggest stars.

According to Telemundo, which will be broadcasting the award show on Oct. 8, several stars will be coming together to sing a medley of Cruz's most popular hits.

The medley will include the talents of salsa singer India, Yuri, Colombian star Maluma, and actress Aymée Nuviola, who will be portraying the "queen of salsa music" in her later years in the upcoming series "Celia," airing on Oct. 13.

The series, which also stars Jeimy Osorio as the younger Celia, will tell the story of how Cruz became the icon she is today, starting from her youth in Havana and leading up to her international success. The series will feature crucial moments in her career, including her confrontation with sexism and racism in the 1950s.

"Most of us, at least those of a certain generation, know a lot about Celia's later years, but we spend a big portion of the series delving into a side of the young Celia that most people probably aren't aware of," Glenda Pacanins, senior vice president of Telemundo Programming Strategy Integration, told Billboard.

Pacanins explained that Cruz's success is particularly impressive given the odds she overcame to enter a music world dominated by men and condemned by her own father. Cruz went on to become one of the most successful icons in Latin music.

Several other stars have been confirmed to be performing live at the Latin AMAs. The list includes a mix of Latin musicians and mainstream American music stars.

Reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee, Farruko and Yandel, Gloria Trevi, Paulina Rubio, Fonseca, Jencarlos Canela, Il Volo, Luis Coronel and Gerardo Ortiz are all scheduled to perform, as well as Natalie La Rose, Shaggy and Lil Jon.

The Latin American Music Awards will be hosted at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Check out the trailer for "Celia" below.
