Late Show with Stephen Colbert News: First Lady Michelle Obama Just Wants to Open a Window
Michelle Obama revealed on Monday's episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" that she is counting down the days until she will leave the White House and finally be allowed to open a window again.
During an interview with late night talk show host Stephen Colbert, the first lady opened up about her post-White House plans, which include fighting for girls to receive access to education around the world and enjoying the simple pleasures in life.
"I also want to do little things like, you know, open a window," Obama told Colbert.
Although the first lady has gained influence and power since moving into the White House, she says that she misses mundane tasks like cracking a window, driving a car and going to Target.
She also admitted that she was once able to open her car window "as a treat."
"One day as a treat, my lead agent let us have the windows open on the way to Camp David," the first lady said. "It was like five minutes out and he was like 'the window's open. Enjoy it!' I was like, 'Thanks Allen.'"
Obama appeared on the show in order to promote her latest campaign to encourage educational opportunities for girls across the global. She first announced her #62MillionGirls campaign, which is part of her Let Girls Learn initiative, at the Global Citizen Festival in New York on Saturday night, reports Time.
The movement's mission is to raise awareness and spark change for the 62 million girls around the world who are not in school. While speaking at the concert on Saturday, she called on social media users to share a selfie using the hashtag #62MillionGirls, along with a caption describing what they learned in school.
"Our goal is to make sure every girl on the planet gets the opportunity that our girls get," the first lady said, speaking about her two teenage daughters with the president.
