The Houston Texans cut ties with placekicker Randy Bullock and acquire former San Diego Chargers' Nick Novak.

On Tuesday, the Texans released Bullock, who was drafted by the Houston team in 2012 during the fifth round and started playing in 2013, ESPN reported. The Texas A&M University alumnus had a poor showing in his first three games this season, which led to his dismissal. The 25-year-old NFL player reportedly missed two extra points in these previous games under the Texans, making him the only football athlete in his position to post "more than one extra-point attempt" so far this 2015 NFL season.

Although he completed all "66-for-66 on extra point attempts" in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Texans decided to no longer continue with his services as a placekicker.

Chron noted that the Houston team had conducted a tryout for five kickers on Tuesday, citing sources knowledgeable of the matter. The five players who attended the audition were former San Diego Chargers Nick Novak, former Washington Redskins Kai Forbath, former Oakland Raiders Giorgio Tavecchio, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos Connor Barth as well as former Texans and New York Giants Chris Boswell.

Eventually, Novak was the fortunate man to get the job.

It was a roller coaster ride for the 34-year-old place kicker. On Sept. 5, the San Diego team had a massive overhaul in their 53-man roster, including Novak's release, per the Chargers' official website. The California-born athlete graciously accepted his former team's decision with a heartfelt letter directed to his hometown team via a Twitter post.

Novak played for the past three seasons in San Diego. In his last season with the Chargers, he posted an 84.6 percent on all of his field goal attempts, noted ESPN.

On Monday, Novak, who reportedly missed only one regular-season extra point in his career, tried his luck to enter the Philadelphia Eagles but the role was meant for former Miami Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis, instead, Chron informed.

Yet, it just proved he is also meant for another team, also. The San Diego-born player made it to the Texans and is obviously happy being in his new home, evident of how he embraces his new team's logo, as seen on his Twitter account.
