The Arkham series is getting its last installment with 'Batman: Arkham Knight,' reports Game Informer.

The new game picks up where 'Batman: Arkham City' left off a year ago, but in a reportedly bigger Gotham city, says Joystiq. The Caped Crusader will be on the heels of several villains in this new Arkham installment including Scarecrow, Two-Face, Penguin and Harley Quinn, notes Polygon.

And although the phrase "Arkham Knight" seems to refer to Batman, another report from Game Informer claims otherwise. "The Arkham Knight is actually a brand new character created by Rocksteady and DC," says the report.

"We kind of feel like this is the natural end for this story. We really want to go out in style," remarks a developer in the Game Informer video.

Interestingly, gamers who pre-order the title will not only get to play Batman but will also receive a pre-order add-on bonus which allows the gamer to play as Harley Quinn, reveals the title's pre-order webpage.

"Pre-order now and receive the playable Harley Quinn add-on. Become Harley Quinn for the first time ever in an Arkham game and utilize her unique weapons, gadgets, and abilities first-hand. The add-on includes four exclusive challenge maps," reads the title's pre-order webpage.

Even though reports confirm that gamers can play Batman and Harley Quinn, game director Sefton Hill notes that 'Batman: Arkham Knight' will only be a single player game.

Speaking with Game Informer, Hill said, "It's going to take all of our effort for all of this time. We don't have the time to do multiplayer. We want to focus on making the best single-player experience we can."

'Batman: Arkham Knight' will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC this year though no date has been confirmed yet. A GameStop promotion, however, lists the title "Available 10/ 14/ 14" even with the title's website only saying "Coming 2014."
