Demi Lovato Complex Interview: Singer Wants Grammy Nomination, Talks Wilmer Valderrama and Babies
In the magazine's October issue, singer Demi Lovato told Complex that, while she would love to marry boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama and eventually have children, she's not ready and instead is looking for a Grammy nomination.
The 23-year-old star is featured in a variety of revealing photos, including a few topless ones, for Complex's latest cover story. Lovato also shared several images from the shoot on her Instagram account.
In the new issue, the star explains that she and Valderrama have been together for five years, but there is no rush to marry or even think about having children.
"[Valderrama's] parents are hilarious. His dad's always like, 'Make babies.' Like, 'Oh god. Not yet. Not any time soon,'" Lovato said.
Instead of children, the "Confident" singer has her career goals in mind and has set her eyes on a Grammy nomination.
"I just want to be nominated for one," she said. "You can't go higher than the Grammys in the music industry. That was a huge goal for this album ... It's literally everything. It's like the Olympics for an athlete."
With "Confident" being one of October's most anticipated albums and "Cool for the Summer" one of the summer's biggest hits, Lovato may just be on her way to earning a nomination.
The singer, whose sexuality recently came into question, also spoke out about the claims that "Cool for the Summer" was about a lesbian relationship, particularly one of hers.
The star neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. She did go on to deny the rumor that she dated "Orange Is the New Black" star Ruby Rose, and added that there's a lot of stuff people still don't know.
"There's a lot of relationships that I've had where nobody has even guessed it," the singer revealed. "Not everybody knows everything about me. The only thing that matters to me is that people know who I am today."
