"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" has just unveiled some new photos from the set.
Most of the pictures were showcased on Instagram and included the first shot of Cuban actor William Levy in costume. The actor was recently brought on to portray the role of Christian in the final installment of the movie series.
Levy is showcased in a number of pictures with his co-stars, including one scene in which he stands beside Ali Larter, who welcomes him to the production. In another, he is show pointing a gun at Eoin Macken. Levy is also seen hanging out with Rola and Macken in a black-and-white image, while yet another has the famed actor at dinner with his co-stars. Levy also posted a series of selfies on set in front of a green screen in the studio.
Shooting for the film is currently underway in South Africa. The film will conclude the long-running franchise that began in 2002. To date, the series peaked with its fourth installment "Resident Evil: Aftermath," which grossed over $60 million in the U.S. The most recent film, "Resident Evil: Retribution," only managed to bring in $42 million, the lowest gross since the franchise initiator raked in just $40 million in 2002.
The best reviewed film in the franchise was the first film, which only saw 33 percent of reviews turn out positive. Every other film since has struggled to get positive reviews from at least 30 percent of critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, though the most recent film "Retribution" got a 31 percent approval rating.
The new movie stars Milla Jovovich in the lead role of Alice, Larter as Claire Redfield, Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, Shawn Roberts as the villainous Albert Wesker and Ruby Rose as Abigail. "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is slated for release in 2017 and will be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
