The "Game of Thrones" movie did sound too good to be true. After the widespread excitement at the prospect of seeing all the Westeros drama and beyond the wall action in the big screen, "A Song of Ice and Fire" author George R.R. Martin went online to clear up the rumors once and for all. No, there are no current plans to stage a full-length feature film on the best-selling series.

It was Daily Star who first came out with the report of a "confirmed" film to conclude the "Game of Thrones" story with a big screen project. According to the website, Martin was quoted saying, "There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB and David are dealing with."

Martin took to his Livejournal account to deny the speculations vehemently, even labelling his blog post as "annoyed."

"I don't know where this latest round of 'there's going to be a GAME OF THRONES movie' nonsense is coming from, but suddenly it is everywhere, and all of us connected with the show and HBO are being bombarded," he wrote in a scathing post. "But nothing has changed."

According to the author, the concept of ending the critically-acclaimed television show with a full-length movie was discussed a few years back, but he emphasized that it was not his idea. Martin admitted that he initially found the prospect of a movie based on his writing appealing, and he still thinks it's a great way to stage the finale.

"Which doesn't mean it is going to happen," he stressed in his blog. "There is great enthusiasm for the notion, sure, but not necessarily from HBO. They are in the TV business, not the feature film business."

He called the talks swirling around the supposed film "silly," pointing out that other HBO series that have been speculated to make it as films have never gone beyond rumors.

"It would still be cool, and I'd still love to see it... but nothing has changed since the last round of rumors," he continued. "I am still writing THE WINDS OF WINTER. David & Dan are still filming season six. HBO is still in the television business."

While diehard fans may be disappointed that the rumored films are only just rumors after all, they're likely happy to hear that the author — who is notorious for taking a long time in between novels — is currently hard at work for the sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire."
