Popular BBC show "Doctor Who" is now getting a spin off for a young adult audience, titled "Class."

Although the universe will remain essentially the same, the show will be more geared toward a younger audience, a generation of viewers whom the network expects to turn into "Whovians" as they grow older.

Deadline reports that the move comes after many incarnations of the show have come and gone on the British network over the past several decades, with various Doctors taking on the titular role.

Although it is unclear if the current Doctor will play a role in the spin-off series, there is every indication that the spin off will follow the primary show's doctrine.

Young adult book author Patrick Ness is expected to come onboard to spearhead the project, marking his first venture into television. "Doctor Who" showrunner Steven Moffat has already weighed in on the project and on Ness.

"No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we're bringing his brilliant storytelling into 'Doctor Who,'" Moffat said. "This is growing up in modern Britain -- but with monsters!"

The show is set to feature a number of young heroes, but all will undoubtedly embody the quirky, optimistic spirit of the Doctor himself. It is possible that one of the young actors on the spin-off show will even be groomed to takeover the role of the Doctor in the near or distant future.

"There's so much room there for all kinds of amazing stories, and to work with Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin to find a place to tell one of my own has been an absolute joy," Ness said. "I can't wait for people to meet the heroes of 'Class,' to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels."
