Street Fighter 5 New Character Leaked 'Laura' Plus Zangief Revealed in Trailer
Capcom is still in the process of building excitement around Street Fighter 5, with the gradual reveal of new characters. However, an unexpected female fighter has made her way online via leaked screenshots by Japanese publication Famitsu.
The combatant has been identified as Laura and she's seen to largely be influenced by electricity in her attacks. There is also evidence that she may be a Brazilian jiu-jitsu martial artist. The stage she's featured in the screenshots also tend to suggest that she's from Brazil.
Capcom has previously stated that there will be four new characters set to appear in Street Fighter 5, and with the previous announcements of both Necalli and Rashid, we can now expect there to be one more.
The infamous Russian Grappler from the Street Fighter franchise has also been officially confirmed to return to the highly anticipated fifth installment. Zangief's reprisal was announced at the Russian gaming expo IgroMir, and his reveal trailer featured a number of new and memorable moves he's set to bring.
As shown, the character is still one of the most massively built combatants that sports and even larger assortment of suplexes and grapples. In the new game he'll arrive with the V-Skill: Iron Muscle and V-Trigger: Cyclone Lariat.
The Iron Muscle move allows the player to absorb a blow before striking with his own, and the Cyclone Lariat is an extension of Zangief's signature spin move that just allows him to keep spinning.
In terms of classic characters, we can expect to see at least two more according to Capcom. They will always from up to Street Fighter II, and from later in the franchise.
A release date has yet to be announced, but Capcom confirms that Street Fighter 5 should arrive before the end of their fiscal year which is March 31, 2016.
