OnePlus 2 Specs, Review, Price: Mini Version Coming This Year With 5-Inch Screen
OnePlus is set to release a second smartphone this year and it will be a smaller version of the OnePlus 2. It was first known as the OnePlus 2 Mini, but it will actually be called the OnePlus X.
The mini OnePlus 2 will not be that much smaller than the original OnePlus 2, which was released in August. The OnePlus X will use a 5-inch screen while the OnePlus 2 has a 5.5-inch screen.
Besides the screen, there will be notable differences between the OnePlus X and the OnePlus 2, according to Phandroid.
The screen will be an HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and it will be protected by either Gorilla Glass 3 or 4. It will also include water-resistant and dust-proofing technology.
The processor used in the OnePlus X will be the older and slower Snapdragon 801. The OnePlus 2 uses the latest processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 810. The OnePlus X's Snapdragon 801 is over a year old, but it will help keep its price down. Two GB of RAM will be paired with the Snapdragon 801.
The internal storage for the OnePlus X will start out at 32 GB and it will be expandable with a microSD slot.
It was originally rumored that there would be a dual-camera sensor for the rear-facing camera, but now it looks like just a single rear-facing camera is coming. The rear-facing camera will be 13 megapixels (MP) with the capability of shooting 4K video. The front-facing camera will be 5 MP with the capability of shooting 1080p video.
The battery on the OnePlus X will be reduced to 3,000-3,100 mAh, down from 3,300 mAh. The battery will not be removable, just like it is on the OnePlus 2. Quick Charge 2.0 will help the phone regenerate its power quickly.
One important feature that is missing from the OnePlus 2 that is coming to the OnePlus X is NFC technology. NFC technology allows for mobile payment services like Android Pay.
The OnePlus X will also be equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device.
For $250, the OnePlus X is $100 cheaper than the OnePlus 2 and it comes with NFC. The phone features a screen that is just 0.5 inches smaller, so the phone could be a good seller. The phone is expected to be released in October.
