'Heroes Reborn' Spoilers: Robbie Kay Talks Character Tommy Clarke, Relationship With the 'Penny Man'
"Heroes Reborn's" Robbie Kay has shed some light on the relationship between his character and the mysterious man who is tracking him.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the "Once Upon a Time" actor spoke about Tommy Clarke's simultaneous appreciation and apprehension toward his anonymous texter, who he views as his "guardian angel."
"[When] he finds out about the church fire and coach Lewis and everything like that in the school, I think it really hits him hard, and he's like, 'Hold on a minute, the reason that I left that church was because of that text,' and I think he kind of -- he holds significance to that a little bit," Kay said. "So, I think he's a little bit apprehensive, but at the same time, he kind of sees it as a bit of a guardian angel as well, and [he's] thinking, 'Hey, maybe I do need another pair of eyes to kind of look behind me and make sure that I'm gonna be OK.'"
Tommy's mystery watcher, whom fans quickly dubbed the "Penny Man" for his odd ability to hypnotize people with coins, is portrayed by longtime television actor Pruitt Taylor Vince. Kay spoke about his experience working with the Hollywood veteran in an interview with website Zap2it.
"He was incredible," Kay said of Vince. "He's an absolutely incredible actor to work with, and such a lovely guy too. It was mesmerizing -- which is funny, because the power he has is an ability to manipulate people. And he is manipulating the audience as well."
Kay also spoke on the specifics of Tommy's teleportation powers.
"In his mind, whatever the dominant thought is, that is where that person will go to," Kay told Zap2it. "So there is definitely a direct link between his power and his mind."
"Heroes Reborn" airs Thursdays on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
